hot spots
hot to trot around aucklandFor the best swing dancing in town look no further than The Swing Station Thursday, Friday and monthly Sunday nights where you can freestyle to some awesome swing music until midnight..... .....but if that isn't enough, make sure you join our mail list or facebook group, or keep your eye on our whats up! page to find out what else is coming up. Dancing to live music is a special treat, and we are fortunate to have some awesome live bands in Auckland that are both great to dance to and / or just listen to - so read up about them, keep your eyes open for when they are playing, and try and get out and support them whenever you can! There are a bunch of Jazz and Blues festivals that occur every year around New Zealand - and while they may not be specifically swing focused, these are nevertheless a good opportunity to hear some great live music in some cool locations - and I am sure you will manage a bit of dancing as well. Several of these are in and around Auckland so can be a good weekend excursion.

swing around nz..and the world!Once you are addicted to swing you are going to want to make sure you check out the swing scene wherever you go - and fortunately there are swing schools in each of the main centres in New Zealand and Australia......and all around the world! Even better, you could really immerse yourself in swing and attend one of the hundreds of lindy exchanges where teachers and students from all over the world converge for a few days of non stop swing workshops and social dancing. Although we can't list them all, we have had a good go at listing all the ones that are MUST DO (Herrang obviously!!), nearby (SSF, MLX, MSF....), in key destinations, or that have some of the best teachers on the scene today! We also remind you on our whats up! page of the ones coming up that you should be considering. Holidays will never be the same again :) Also check out our list of the top swing teachers on the scene today that you should watch out for in your travels or in our cool clips from YouTube. |
