workshop streams

We are very excited to be offering 2 Lindy Hop streams and 1 Balboa stream at our first BASE Camp - and the good news is, they are on different days, so if you want to do both dances, you can!

Please note that workshops can only be purchased with a BASE pass. There will be no door sales on the day.

workshop venues

All the workshops will be held at one of the following venues right in the heart of trendy Ponsonby, just minutes away from numerous shops and cafe's. All the venues also have grassy areas outside should you wish to bring your lunch and chill out over the lunch break.

workshop levels

Please make sure that you choose the appropriate level for your dancing experience and ability so that both you and other students can gain the most from the classes.

Note that even with two levels, there will still be a wide range of abilities in each class, but all the teachers will have fresh perspectives and teaching styles, so everything will be new and exciting! Where possible, the teachers will also 'split teach' to offer extra tips and tricks for those that are ready to take them on board.

Lindy 1 This is not an absolute beginners class, and at a minimum you must be comfortable freestyling the basic 8 count, charleston and 6 count moves to get the most out of this stream, so the more freestyling you do between now and then the better!
Lindy 2 If you have been learning and social dancing swing for a while now and are up for a challenge, then this is the class for you. You are ready to go hard and take your dancing to a new level and can't wait to take on anything the teachers have to throw at you! Bring it on!
Balboa Again, this is not a beginners class, and you will need to be comfortable with your Pure Bal and Swing Bal basics (up and downhold basics, break turns, scoots, paddles, lollies, throw outs, crossovers).

Having said that, we are still babies in the world of Bal, so our overseas Balboa experts will be giving lots of tips and techniques to help you master the 'feel' of Balboa and to lead and follow better, as well as lots of new material to boost your repertoire on the dance floor.

private lessons

It is not every day that we get international teachers travelling to New Zealand, so it pays to make the most of them while they are here!

All our international teachers will be in town and available for private lessons in either Swing or Balboa from the Friday through to Monday (when not otherwise teaching workshops). Time slots will be limited - so put your name down when you register to secure your spot (first in first served). Please also indicate some general time preferences (e.g. Friday morning, or not Friday etc) and we will do our best to accommodate you.
